As an independent civil rights association, the German Association for Data Protection (Deutsche Vereinigung für Datenschutz, DVD) works to ensure that modern data processing by public authorities, companies and organizations does not jeopardise our fundamental rights.

Karin Schuler was a jury member of the BigBrotherAwards in 2004–2009.
